Karlsruhe, 07.10.2019. The period underwear supplier femtis now sponsors the rocKArollers Karlsruhe players.
The rocKArollers are the first Roller Derby team in Karlsruhe. Roller Derby is a dynamic full-contact sport played in teams on quad roller skates, much like rugby but without a ball.
The origins of this team sport, which is mostly run by women, are in the USA. Today's rules were created around the turn of the millennium. The idea came from women, many of whom came from the punk scene and supported the women's movement.
The rocKArollers play since 2017 in the 2nd Bundesliga. Player Effi Biest reached 2018 13th place at the World Cup in Manchester with the German national team. The Bundesliga finished the team in 5th place.
femtis finances rocKArollers' teambuildings and also equips the players with period underwear.
Judith Barensteiner from femtis is pleased: "The rocKArollers are a perfect match for us, because not only team spirit and fairness count here, but also individuality. Each team player can stay as she is and is still part of a strong community that she can rely on. We encourage the involvement of rocKArollers and want to make a contribution to the spread of this dynamic sport".
Roller derby leagues are already available in many German cities. Further information about Roller Derby Karlsruhe at https://www.rockarollers.de
