Period Panty FAQ: Everything you need to know about period panties

You're interested in period underwear, but you're unsure if it's the right choice for you? In this article, we'll answer all your questions about menstrual underwear.

Period underwear are panties that absorb your period. They replace disposable period products or can be worn in addition to tampons, pads, or menstrual cups. All period panties are equipped with a multi-layered protection area that absorbs your period and provides optimal protection during menstruation. This way, you can go about your day with peace of mind and no longer worry about your menstrual flow.

How much fluid can period panties absorb?

The absorbency of period panties varies depending on the model: from 1 tampon (5 ml) to 3 tampons (15 ml). Choose the femtis model that suits your desired absorbency. We recommend trying out the period panties at home for the first time to see how they work for your flow.

How do I know which model is right for me?

We have the right period panty model for every preference. Whether for heavy or light days, with lace or a basic style, made of cotton or nylon: In our Period Panty Guide, we explain all our models and provide virtual guidance to help you choose.

How do I wash period underwear?

We have already written a magazine article about it, you can find it here. But don't worry, it's super easy and uncomplicated!

How many period panties do I need?

This question is not so easy to answer as it is very individual and depends on the duration and intensity of your menstruation. If you have heavy bleeding, you may need to change your period panty more often or use it as a backup to a tampon or menstrual cup. We recommend starting with one panty per day of your period - it should be changed after a maximum of eight hours.

To give you a rough estimate: Most of our customers tell us that they get through their menstruation with five period panties.

Doesn't it smell?

The femtis layering system securely absorbs your period and keeps you dry and fresh. There are no odors when you change them regularly.

When should I know to change the panty?

We recommend changing period underwear after 8 hours or when it begins to feel damp. The frequency of changing also depends on your individual flow intensity.

Is it sustainable?

A menstruating person uses approximately 10,000-17,000 tampons or pads/liners in their lifetime, depending on individual needs. Unlike disposable products like tampons or pads, period underwear does not generate plastic waste, making it a sustainable alternative or complement. Our femtis period panties are environmentally friendly and cost-effective at the same time.
